2/25/2012 I have attempted to grown corn two times before. The first time I had a nice crop of three rows growing in my raised bed garden. Then I decided to throw some citrus tree fertilizer on it and I cooked them to a crisp within 48 hours. After about five years I figured the soil had leached out the fertilizer, so I grew another three rows. Once again I had nice three foot tall stalks, but the heat hit early and they all turned yellow then brown they dead. Today I planted three more rows of corn.
6/10/2012 Another failed crop. The corn started out very healthy and strong, but after a couple of months it stopped growing taller (max 3' to 4' tall), sprouted wheat out the top and very small ears of corn. I has all been removed so I can plant something else.

7/15/2020 Success! From seed to plate, I probably spent $100 in water, but I kept the corn alive long enough to harvest a few ears. I must have left it too long on the stalk because it was like chewing rubber. Now that I know I can grow it, I'll work on growing it better!
Maybe you need corn advice from a Cornhusker. You're doing it wrong.
